The Beginning of the End...Finally.

This post really doesn't have anything to do with Major, the Westie, but he's so stinkin' cute I just couldn't keep from sharing his cuteness. Ok, Ok, on to the actual blog...

Well, the beginning of the end has officially started. That's right, our final semester of college is already finishing up the second week. Time really does go by fast and let's just hope this one does. I think it will be a pretty good semester. I've already met some really cool people and it's actually nice to walk around Holden Hall and actually know people. It sure does make the day go by faster when you're surrounded by people that share common interests. I think I might need to start setting the automatic timer on the coffee pot because my 9:30 T/TH class is kinda tough to stay awake in. The fear of being called on is the only thing that maintains my alertness. Espanol es muy bien for the mean time. I'm sure once the listening and oral exams start, I might be singing a different tune. Work is going well and I absolutely love the girls I work with. They always have such funny and entertaining stories to share at work. When we move away from Lubbock, I will be super sad to say goodbye to them. The hubs is well and has started hitting the books again as well. Although, I do find that I have way more "busy" work for homework than he does. Eh, I guess he's paid his dues so it's my turn. I am proud to say that he got an A in Intellectual Property last semester (bc it just posted this week...weird). I got the "official" email last week that I'm "All Clear" for graduation in May. THANK GOODNESS! Now, if for some odd reason, they messed up and I'm missing a class they can't come back and say, "Sorry, no graduation for you." (That would be as they say in la clase de espanol...NO BUENO.)
In other news, Jen has picked out a wedding date and location and I can't wait to be part of her special day. Now, if we can just get the diet train going. I promised myself that this summer was going to be filled with awesome pool parties at the bro's house. So Rob and I, along with everyone else in America, has started the year off with high hopes of losing weight, getting in shape, and becoming crazy hot!! So, I have started picking out healthy recipes and I started doing Zumba for the Wii! It's AMAZING! I've done it three times this week and the hubs, major, and I went for a jog before it got too cold today. The hubs has started P90X. The look on his face afterwards said it all and I'm pretty sure it said, this is so flippin hard and exhausting. It's only been two and a half weeks since leaving mom and dad and I'm already getting homesick. Rob doesn't get homesick, but he has the honor of dealing with mine. I get to talk to my mom everyday, and most of the time twice a day, which is AWESOME! I miss them so much and it's really hard to be so far away from them. I'm getting better at dealing with it, but it really does stink not being able to drive over there on the weekends or even during the week for a meal. Maybe and hopefully we'll get to live close to one another again in a few months. Only time will tell...

Well, since the hubs has set this blog as his homepage and was giving me grief about taking so long to update, maybe this will suffice for now. I miss everyone bunches from home and can't wait to see you again!
Till next time, we will enjoy the beginning to our end...of School that is!! : )

Day 1: When I grow up

Ok, so I've been seeing all of these really cute blogs on facebook documenting engagements, weddings, births, and well just life. And although two of those events have already passed for me, here it goes...

Although it isn't myself, I bring fabulous news of an engagement! My best friend in the whole world, Jennifer, got engaged last night to Art. He proposed on top of a mountain in Breckenridge, CO while they were skiing. Aww! I love her like my sister and I know that she will make an absolutely beautiful bride. I can't wait for the big day and to be a part of it.

I have started off the New Year with again more resolutions to get fit and skinny. (The official diet will start when the last semester of school starts in one week.) And that leads to the beginning of the end. I'm referring to my college career. On January 12, 2011 I will start my final semester of my college career (I know I know, about time)! As I enter into my last semester, Rob is as well. We will actually in fact graduate on the same exact date in May. (OH HAPPY DAY) I'm nervous but super excited to start my grown up life and it's so crazy to know that those days when I was a little girl in school saying, "When I grow up" is finally amongst us. I remember I used to dream of being an astronaut and then high school hit and decided that I hated flying and thought maybe building the space shuttles would be more appropriate. Then, college hit and realized that physics just wasn't my cup o' tea. So, as of May 2011, I will be the nations newest Economist. That's right, this blonde hair, blue eyed GIRL will be an Economist! Fox News and Megan Kelly watch out!! JK! As I sit in a smaller classroom with predominantly guys this last semester, I am reminded of the struggles and the strength it took to get where I am now. I can honestly sit here and tell you that if it weren't for Rob, I probably wouldn't have finished. His drive and determination of completing his lifetime to-do/bucket list has inspired me to be who I had originally thought I was. I may be from Texas and have a southern accent, but don't be fooled. My one day aspirations of "when I grow up" may have altered a bit, but are stronger than ever and hopefully one day I'll get my chance to help Mrs. Palin and her quest to be the first woman president. That's right, my "when I grow up" ambitions have now turned to the political arena and one day I would love to work on campaigns and help shape the world we live in, not full-time of course. Hopefully it the next couple of years we will start our own little french basketball team, but in the mean time I'm loving my life and the people in it. I have a wonderful family and I'm attending one of the biggest and best schools in the country. Wreck 'Em Tech and Life is Grand.

I look back on the last 5 years and think, "where has the time gone". I wish we could hit pause and just enjoy the moments that only cameras can capture. As I cross the stage in my cap and gown in May, I hope I can look up and know that Pop and Gma are happy to see that I have fulfilled the promise that I promised them in their last days on earth. It's time. "When I Grow Up" is here. Can't wait to see what's behind door #1...
